PakvEng: 1st T20I called off due to rain

Manchester: Only 16.1 overs were bowled before rain interrupted the first T20I between Pakistan and England at Old Trafford.

England were 131-6 after which the rain dominated the match. With huge regret, the umpires called off the match as the outfield was just too wet to get the game back on.

Sent into bat first, England were off to a shaky start as they lost Jonathan Bairstow in first over of Imad Wasim. Bairstow scored 2 runs.

Thereafter, Dawid Malan and Tom Banton partnered strongly to score 71 runs together. Banton scored his first T20I fifty and scored 71 runs off 42 balls laced with four boundaries and five sixes.

Pakistan made comeback with a runout to send Malan back home for 23. Shadab Khan bagged Banton in 13th over to reduce England to 109-3. England then lost skipper Eoin Morgan (14), Moeen Ali (8) and Lewis Gregory (2) in quick successions as Pakistan bounced back.

Shadab and Imad Wasim bagged two wickets while Iftikhar Ahmed took one.

Both teams will lock horns in the second T20I on August 30 at same venue.
